Beekeepers Quilt Update

Sabtu, 28 Februari 2015

Determination is the key word todays blog!  I used to crochet, but I have only knitted one thing.  It was simple scarf.  I believe it was just rotated rows of knit and purl.  Anyway, when I started my first hexapuff I remembered nothing about knitting.  It took literally two weeks before I successfully made one.  Mistakes were made and so was a lot of unraveling.  I am sure that I took it apart a good 30 times.  It came out kind of weird, but I finally felt I was grasped the ideas.  Thank goodness for a patient friend and youtube.  I have some knitting books, but I had a hard time understanding the concepts through text and incomplete pictured steps.  I think that now that I understand the ideas more, the books will be more helpful.

I want to start embroidering them soon so I made up a simple Beekeepers Quilt Blank Chart.  I can start posting the ones that I complete if anyone else is interested in some of my designs for the hexapuffs.
I space out a lot so I made a little reminder note card to help me remember where I left off.  It can be tedious to move the little clip every time I finish a row, but I figure it is better than having to recount the rows over and over.
My little sister gave me a cute charm and I added it to one pair of my snips.  Adorable!

This was probably my 28th try. I was almost done.  Boo.
? (My first hexapuff.  It is warped looking, but I am proud to have finally finished it.)

Sugarn Cream:Country Side Ombre

Sugarn Cream: Green Twists

Sugarn Cream: Light Blue

?

I did the first three slightly wrong.  The last two I did correctly but the size of the yarn also definitely determines the size of the hexapuff.  I just used what I had on hand.  I think I am going to make an order of some new yarn to get more variety and uniform sizes.
